Greece-Serbia: Friendly Match Turns into Punching Arena (Videos)

Fists flew, hands grabbed throats, chairs landed on heads, blood run and swears were exhchanged  turning the  parquet floor of a friendly basketball match between Greece and Serbia  into a heated boxing ring.

It all started when Greek center Antonis Fotsis said ‘something’ to Serb guard Milos Teodosic after a hard foul. Things escalated, when Serb center Nenad Krstic grabbed Fotsis by the throat. The first fists flew and swears were exchanged. Then Krstic grabbed a chair and tried to throw it towards  Greek Sofo Schortsanitis. But the chair missed the target and hit Greek Ioannis Bourousis, who got injured  on the head.

 

Three minutes before the end of the game,  basketball players were tackled, blood was running and the parquet floor was turned into a punching arena.

Greece and Serbia were playing in OAKA Stadium in Athens in terms of a friendly match for Acropolis Tournament. The match was stopped three minutes at the end of these shameful incidents and the referee registred a victory for the Greek team (83-74). Greek media report that the score sheets has been written so as to exempt players and teams. The incident takes place a few days before the World Championship in Turkey.

The sports prosecutor Costas Simitzoglou  ordered the  arrest of  Nenant Krstic, who knocked a metal chair in the head of Bourossis. The Serbian international  basketball player has been accused for breaching of law on sports violence.
