U2: Spectacular Concert in Athens (Videos:U2, Snow Patrol)

U2, one of my favorite rock bands, are giving one of their most spectacular concert in Athens today. The concert is supported by a singular stage construction with perfect visibility from all sides of the stadium, offering audiences a unique experience. With a cylindrical video system and a web of LED screens, a steel construction hanging 45 m above the ground over a huge scene and revolving bridges, the band has created a 360-degree experience never before seen by any audience.  That’s why the European tour of the most famous  Irish  boys is called the 360 Tour.

I hear that the boys will make a spectacular arrival on the stage, but I don’t reveal the secret lol

360 Tour: criticism on energy footprint

Environmentalists  say U2′s 360 Tour- which will hit 44 stadiums across the globe – will create enough carbon emissions to fly the Irish rock band all the way to Mars. Eco fans say U2 would have to plant a whopping 20,118 trees. Even other celebrities have been chiming in, calling U2′s tour “excessive.” Talking Heads front man David Byrne said: “$40 million to build the stage and, having done the math, we estimate 200 semi trucks crisscrossing Europe for the duration. It could be professional envy speaking here, but it sure looks like, well, overkill, and just a wee bit out of balance given all the starving people in Africa and all.”

Tonight’s Time Table

Snow Patrol will be appearing before U2. Snow Patrol is an alternative rock band, Irish as well. In tune and voice they remind me a bit the U2 in their early days.

The concert is taking place at the Olympic Stadium, OAKA, or else Olympic Athletic Centre of Athens. Yes, there where the soccer match Panathinaikos-Genoa took place and yes, there where they can not fix the pitch…

The OAKA will open its gates at 17:30 (5.30 pm

Snow Patrol : 20:15

U2 : 21:45

*******METRO and URBAN RAILWAYwill be more often after 12 midnight and there will also be a bus for Syntagma Square. Check for info, when you are there.
