“Every 68 seconds somewhere around the world a woman dies from breast cancer.” This is a shocking statement I read in the press released sent to me by the Pan-Hellenic Association of Women with Breast Cancer. Yes, the statistics are frightening. But there is hope. And a Race, which we can support.
Because in fact, we don’t need to read the statistics to know how widespread is cancer in our modern society. There is hardly a family without a case of cancer attacking someone we love and care for. We often misinterpret the warning signs and then we are horrified. We run from doctor to doctor to get a second and even third opinion, to find the most suitable cure, the cure with less possible pain and damage. Then often cancer is associated with amputation, chemotherapy, loss of hair, loss of hope and depression…. Yet, often breast cancer and many forms of cancer can be cured if there is an early diagnosis. I am sure, every one knows people, who have managed to survive and live cured for many years.
