Unbelievable! The Divine Maria Callas passed away 33 years ago, but there is no money for the annual Tribute Concert!
The Athenaeum – International Cultural Centre announced that the planned concert-event to commemorate the death of Maria Callas is been cancelled due to lack of fundings and “presence” of debts.
The Athenaeum is a non profit association dedicated to preserve the memory of Marias Callas, organises annually a tribute concenrt. The Cultural centre is under the auspices of the Greek Ministry of Culture, that this year “failed to give the necessary grants”, as the non profit writes in a press release. Blame the Ministry, blame the Athenaeum? I don’t know. But tha’s really sad, sad, sad!
Yes? There is no money for culture? We first cut spending on Culture?
Isn’t there a single cent to commemorate the magnificent Callas, the Soprano of the sopranos, who mesmerized millions of people around the world?
Maria Callas passed away on September 16, 1977.
The Athenaeum invites Maria Callas’ fans to post messages, comments or pictures on internet in a symbolic gesture to honor the Greek Diva.
