Mikis Theodorakis: PM blackmails Greeks – Announces Citizens’ Movement

Posted by keeptalkinggreece in Editor, Politics

World famous Greek Composer Mikis Theodorakis accused Prime Minister Giorgos Papandreou of “blackmailing the people”.

Speaking at an event, Theodorakis attacked the government in general and Greek PM in personal.  ”Giorgos Papandreou blackmailed the Greeks, saying that if people will not vote his candidates,  he will lead the country to early elections. Under these circumstances, early elections are the death of Greece, we are breaking up, everything will stop”, said Theodorakis.

He also stressed that “if  Costas Karamanlis would still govern the country, progressive forces would have burn down Greece.”

Mikis Theodorakis, a former politician and ex-minister, announced his decision to establish an independent citizen’s movement, should PM Papandreou go for early elections.

Can Theodorakis unite the deeply disappointed progressive forces in Greece? I bet he would! There are so many socialist PASOKsupporters, who hate the governing party for its neo-liberal economic policies. There aremany moderate left-wing followers, who are tired of seeing SYRIZA’s different small parties  not able to agree on a single issue. They need an alternative politicla expression. That’s why I bet Theodorakis would have good chances to unite all these. That’s for sure an interesting development to follow.
