Athens: Atenistas ready for the next party – Nov 12

Posted by keeptalkinggreece in Society

After the successful  candle-lights party at Kotzia Square, last Saturday, the citizens’ initiative Atenistas is preparing for their next onset to the dark and abandoned areas of Athens. This time they target the city’s centre, the Omonoia Square – once a business diamond and  pulsing trade area of Athens, now a place full of  dark shadows and society outcasts. “Forgoten, problematic, notorious and seamy”

Remember to be there on Friday, November 12 at 22:oo hours/ 10 pm!

Bring drinks, music instruments, whistles and smiles! Ops! Don’t forget the tea-lights!

A fancy street party is on the way!

I have translated Atenistas’ call from their official website

Friday night downtown.
Athenians who are not afraid of the dark and prejudices they bring light, music and smiles to the big square.
Come as you are: with your drinks, your bike and your friends. If you can’t bring anything, you will find everything there ( except the bike).

A great impromptu party: Musicians, bring guitars and percussion. Amateur anything you have: maracas, tambourine, triangles, horns for parties. The rest of you bringwhistles to briing power to the city.

All together we’ll walk down the dark streets off  Omonoia, in a real moving feast  for the city of Athens.
