Posted by keeptalkinggreece in Society
The new week starts with new stoppages in the public transport of Athens, driving passengers to a new round of troubled and disturbed moving around in the Greek capital.
Monday, January 10, 2011: Buses, Tram and Trolley will not operate from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Metro and Urban Train-HSAP will no operate from 12 noon to 4 p.m. Practically there will be no transportation means from noon to early afternoon.
Furthermore, Athens public transportation unions will hold meetings today to decide for possible new work stoppages on Tuesday and Wednesday, January 11 and 12, as well for a 24h strike on Thursday, January 13, 2011.
Trade unions react to government plan to restructure public transport and the loss of dozens work places. They have been striking since begining of last December without taking into consideration those who can not afford paying a taxi. So far the government let them prevail and keeps silent, refraining from taking any measures to protect the public.
Check occasionally for updates on stoppages and strikes!
