The intention of US Secretary of State to pay an official visit to Athens was expressed by US embassy officials to Greek diplomats, according to Greek weekly Proto Thema online, quoting anonymous sources.
Hillary Rodham Clinton’s wish had been to visit Athens in upcoming February.
The web site noted that the request has been conveyed to the Greek side about ten days ago. No official announcements have been made so far. However the ‘sources’ see a great potential for the visit to take place.
” A great potential” implies in diplomatic language a 52-48 chances that something will happen, but it shows at the same time some ‘distrubances’.
Are the Greeks showing a cold shoulder to the head of US State Department? Are they angry about the recent wikileaks US embassy cable releases? Or was the release a starter before more cables reach the capitla of Greece?
We’ll see at the end of … February, the latest.
