Zakynthos Petition against Dogs & Cats Poisoning – Please, sign!

Signatures are still needed for the dogs poisoning on the Greek island of Zakynthos! Animal abuse in Greece has reached alarming dimensions , stray dogs and cats and even family pets are been poisoned. Please, sign the petition so the maximum sentence is applied by the authorities. Excerpt from the Petition:
“During the week commencing 17th January 2011 two dogs were poisoned in Kalamaki. One dog was a family pet.
We are calling on the Zakynthos chief of police to carry out a full and thorough investigate into these events leading to a prosecution and conviction carrying the maximum available penalty in accordance with the letter dispatched to all police stations across Greece by the Greek chief of police stating that the police ”must take action right away whenever they have information and reply in writing to the complainant.”
We therefore respectfully request you investigate this and any future incidents thoroughly, prosecute and convict the perpetrator and push for a maximum sentence.
We are also calling upon the mayor of Zakynthos to ensure the residents are made aware that these acts are not only exceedingly cruel, but also against Greek law 3170/2003 and the EU directive on the treatment of animals, and infringements will result in prosecution.”

Thank you so much for featuring and posting my petition. I really appreciate it. I hope it will help us to make a difference here on Zakynthos. A friend came out of her house on Sunday morning to find her dog cunvulsing on her doorstep. It had been poisoned inside her own garden!!! Sadly Ruby, the dog, died.
Oh Helen, so sad. I really hope you make the difference on Zakynthos. I don’t understand what’s wrong with the people. It’s a really a wave of poisoning. so sad.
