After the ugly incidents at Panathinaikos-Olympiakos derby of last Saturday and an angry Djibril Cisse declaring to leave Greece, another football star of Panathinaikos expressed the wish to leave the mediterranean pitches: Gilberto Silva, the Brazilian defencive midfielder. In an interview with Brazilian website globoesporte.globo Gilberto refered to the hooligans attacks of last Saturday and stressed that “nobody goes punished in Greece.”
“It is not the first unlucky event in Greece. It has happened several times before. When it happens to me I do not give great value. We will not stay and hear a bunch of idiots. I ignore them. But Djibril Cisse is more targeted.”
Gilberto Silva mention ‘racism’ as a motive for the attack, something that was not clearly mentioned by the Greek media, but many cool-headed people thought.
“The atmosphere during the derby “was ‘hot’ , all those fools did sounds like monkeys. The problem is not the fansof Olympiakos. Recently in Xanthi, racism did happened too, but nothing changed. Nobody ever gets punished.”
Describing last Saturday’s situation as “very dangerous” Gilberto said ”Thank God, nobody hurt.”
When asked about his contract expiring next summer, he answered:
“Last season we had a conversation about a contract extension. But it was early. Now I think that there is no intention for the team to continue with me. Even I do not want to continue. I spent three wonderful years in Greece, it was a fantastic experience.”
