Feb 23 – Greece: Clashes & Tear Gas at Protest Rallies (video)

13:51 Clashes erupted in Athens amid the huge demonstration against the austerity measures and the general strike. The first minor clashesstarted a while ago at Panepistimou Avenue as riot police fired tear gas against stones-throwing protesters. A bit later some ‘protesters’ came out of the metro station at Syntagma Square and started hurling molotov cocktail bombs. In Twitter <#23fgr > demonstrators complain about heavy air due massive use of tear gas by the police.

However the main body of the huge rally has not been dispersed. Thousands remain in front of the Greek Parliament.
