46 illegal immigrants on hunger strike in hospitals

The number of illegal immigrants taken to hospital with kindey failure is dramatically increasing as they entered the 35th day of hunger strike. 36 people are currently in hospitals of Athens and 10 people in hospitals of Thessaloniki.
As reported by the physicians of the medical support group, those in the hospitals are receiving medical care however for some of them the kidney failure might be irreversible or even fatal.
Yesterday Sunday, 36 immigrants started thirst strike and stopped taking water, salt and sugar.
300 illegal immigrants started a hunger strike demanding residence permission and social and labour rights. The Greek government refuses to meet their demands out of fear more illegal immigrants could use the same means of pressure.
