Police officers gathered outside the Headquarters of Greek Police Wednesday morning to commemorate their two murdered colleagues. Police officers from all stations in Attica symbolically protested and staged a work stoppage from 12:00 -12:30 to express their outrage about the heinous murder of their young colleagues. They tried to give a message to the leadership of police and the government of the country and urged them to effectively support the families of the deceased.

Tuesday night, two policemen, 22 and 23 years old, were killed and two injured after perpetrators opened fire against them. The policemen belonged to the DI.AS squads that patrol on motorcycles. The president of the Federation of Police officers in Attica prefecture accused the leadership of police for operational mistakes in pursuit of the three criminals that opened fire against the DIAS squad. Earlier the 3 culprits had robbed a kiosk, the DIAS policemen were ceasing them, apparently without a serious backup.
There have been many complains recently about the police budget cuts due to austerity measures. Measures that often leave the policemen with bad quality equipment.
Meanwhile criminality has reached alarming levels. Criminals are getting more and more emboldened and do not hesitate to use fire-guns to get just a couple of euros or
kill even elderly.
Police officers and common citizens left flowers on the spot where the policemen were killed.
