Greece Weather: Frost and Freezing Temperatures – Forecast

Posted by keeptalkinggreece in weather

Snow weather has been gradually drawing back, however frost and freezing temperatures prevail. Many schools in several regions and suburbs of northeast Attica basin are closed today due to bad road conditions. Problems in transportation and electricity continue.

It doesn’t take much snow to have the country paralyzed, especially the Attica basin that is not used to bad weather conditions. Ten-km long traffic jams were recorded in the morning, when low temperatures turned roads into ice skating rinks. Frost is expected to continue until tomorrow Thursday as temperatures will remain low.

At 10:20 am the thermometer showed just +4 degrees Celsius and a slight north wind is blowing.  Standing on my balcony is like having my face shaved by a sharp razor blade.

Greek media criticized the Attica prefecture for closing schools. However pupils are happy to welcome a day off. It was just a prevention measure due to frost, guys …

Ships and ferry boats sailing ban has been partially lifted.

The bad weather front is weakening – however a bit of snow is expected to fall on northeast of Attica basin.

Spring temperature are expected over the weekend.
