Sober landing

Greeks are not feeling good these days. The short Easter holidays interval landed them on Tuesday on a sober runway full of weeds and pests. New austerity measures are on the way and will be announced next Monday.  On the second day of the month of happy May. No wonder that consumption has dropped and the main shopping streets in Greek cities are as empty as on hot August days.

Shop owners and personell standing at the door steps, greeting each other and recounting how they spent the Easter holidays. A friendly smile hanging on a mask of despair and frustration. So grey to see so many announcements proclaiming “We are closing down”.

At the same time the scenarios about debt restructuring are on fire driving the spreads high and the markets return option down.
