“Sudden Death” for Greek Football Federation
Posted by keeptalkinggreece in Sports
Greek Soccer experienced the ‘sudden death’ today, as the Hellenic Football Federation (EPO) deciced to ceased operation for two weeks. The EPO essentially ceased operation for 15 days, after a same-day general assembly vote of 49 to seven opted for such an unprecedented suspension.
“The shocking decision followed a proposal by the federation’s president, Sofocles Pilavios, which was also supported by the Super League federation — which runs the first division pro football championship — as well as the groups representing the second and third division pro leagues.
EPO’s 15-day “lockout” comes after Pilavios vilified what he called a local pro football sector tainted by allegations and charges of fixed games, forged licensing documents submitted by clubs, “gangsters and hooligans”. (ANA-MPA)

Can somebody please explain what is going on here? I have been reading this same kind of short message all over the Greek press. But for the live of me I am not able to understand why a “ceased operation for 15 days” would be of any benefit to clean out the Augean stables, better known as the Greek Superleague.
But if someone can explain why this is such a brilliant idea, wouldn’t it be great to try the same for Greece as a whole? Sudden Death for a month and then everything is solved??!!
Im afriad economic sudden death will have more implications than 15 days in soccer. No, I can’t explain it to you, it’s the Greek way to ‘solve’ things quickly
:)
How was that old song from M*A*S*H? Oh yes:
“That suicide is painless
It brings on many changes
and I can take or leave it if I please.”
It might be the new national anthem?
