(Upd) General Strike to paralyze Greece on June 28-29, 2011

No public transport, no public services, no municipality services incl. garbage collection, no hospitals, no doctors, no dentists, no banks, no pharmacies, no ferries from/to Piraeus, disruptions in air flights ,… An unprecedented general strike, lasting 48 hours will paralyze Greece on June 28-28, 2011, the days the Mid-Term Austerity Programme will be debated and voted in the Greek Parliament.
Big protest rallies will cause all kind of traffic jams in the streets of downtown Athens.
Public Transport UPDATE
June 28 & June 29: Only the Metro will operate as scheduled! However until Station <Doukisis Plakentias> . No metro to/from airport.
All other transport means, incl the urban train HSAP, will stand still!

Indignant Greeks have called people to come down to Syntagma Square and join the crowds in front of the Parliament already on Tuesday morning. They plan to ‘blockade’ the Parliament on Thursday. They also call motorists to cause traffic jams and so hinder lawmakers from entering the Parliament.

Traffic jams – some PASOK members may indeed be looking for good excuse not to vote at all, not sure them not voting is good or bad though. Greek people, your’e not alone.
