Greece: General Strike on Dec 1/2011
Posted by keeptalkinggreece in Society
Public sector union ADEDY and private sector union GSEE call for a 24-hour strike on December 1st, 2011, the day where the Budget 2012 will be voted at the Greek Parliament. There will be a protest march at 11 pm. GSEE spokesman Stathis Anestis told the press that the strike is the answer to the austerity budget, the social benefits cuts, the labour reserve measures, the policies that erase the labour rights. GSEE stresses in a statement that the union will continue its struggle aiming to “change the MoU-destructive policies that strengthen recession, dramatically increase the unemployment, the debt, the deficits, the social injustice and the poverty.”
Public sector union ADEDY is more likely to join the strike, so get ready for a broader strike on the first day of next month.

Whoopy! Big fun. It’s on a Thursday so prepare yourself for a nice long weekend in the chorio! The weather forecast for that weekend reads “A full day of sunshine” for all those days. At least here in the south. So it will be busy and we will prepare the food rations to take back to Athens. And hey, guess what? The olive harvest has started and maybe even the orange harvest might. So, all relatives can join in at a nice honest long weekend of standing on the ladders! That at least will help! So put in your brown contact lenses, because everything outside the city has to look brown en enjoy the féééeéta!
