What’s Up in Greece on Jan 6/12?

The big Christian Holiday, the Epiphany is up in Greece today, but as the politicians are immune to the vision of God and his striking appearance, believers used the opportunity to boo them. In downtown Athens believers chanted slogans against Education Minister Anna Diamantopoulou. In Chalkida indignant believers called the President Karolos Papoulias to leave the religious ceremony and resign from his office. In Piraeus people also protested the Archibishop of Greece, Ieronymos.
The pharmacists continue to refuse credit to insurance funds with the effect the patients pay prescription medicine from their own pockets. Even if the health ministry ordered the payment of over debts to pharmacists, they will contintue their actions until Monday, Jan 9, when they will take new decisions about the future of the Greek patient.
IKA and state hospitals doctors will continue their 24h strikes also next week, from Jan 9th to Jan 13th.
I think, it’s high time Greeks die right away and on the spot….
Greek power company DEH announced on Thursday the electricity price hikes. Consumers will pay an additional 15% retrospective from 1.1.12.
For some stupid reason my euro-printing machine has been damaged. Probably it got shocked by the additional amount of euro banknotes it has to print.
Finance Minister Evangelos Venizelos stated that if Greece signs a new agreement with the Troika, we/they/the government will be committed until 2015. Surprise? Even my cat knows that new austerity measures will have to be applied until 2015…
Museums and archaeological sites will be closed January 6th to January 8th, 2012 because the guards are on strike.
The two prosecutors testified for a second time about their allegations that they were put under pressure by ‘certain cyrcles’. Greek media report that Peponis and Mouzakitis allegedly named Ministers’ middlemen as those putting them under pressure while they were dealing with big scale tax evasion cases.
Extreme weather conditions have hit Greece with rain, snow and strong winds up to 10 Beaufort. Ferries and ship from Piraeus port to Cyclades were not allowed to set sail. If you definitely have to use the sea way fro your transport, better check with local port authorities. The bad weather will continue also on Saturday, Jan 7/12.
