Greece’s public and private sector unions reply to the new austerity measures with a 48-hour strike on Friday and Saturday, February 10 & 11, 2012. They also call for protests outside the Greek parliament on Friday and Saturday at 11 am and a mass protest on Sunday (Feb 12) at 5 pm.
Public sector ADEDY and private GSEE categorically reject the new austerity package that dissolves labour rights and precipitate wages and pensions at least -25%.
The unions describe the new austerity measures as the “worst day for the Greek workers” in the last 37 years.
UPD: Teachers, hospital doctors, bank employees (usuall at state banks) will participate to the strike next to public servants and municipality workers, employees at the state-run enterprises.
Hospitals treat only emergencies.
Also the Seamen will join the strike, so there will be problems in the sea transports.
