Christina Giazitzidou and Alexandra Tsiavou are the first female rowers to get an Olympic Medal!

After the race, the two great Greek rowers spoke to state ERT TV.

“At some point we touched the gold medal. I don’t want to speak about the weather, about anything. We have a medal. I want to thank the people and my home city, Kastoria. We thank the Greeks who followed us. The heart of Ga Greek beats everywhere, ” said Christina Giazitzidou.

“I have no words. I don’t know if I have to be happy or not. We lost for ‘one row’ the silver medal. … Today is a day for joy for many Greek cities who sent rowers to the Olympics. Many people sent us wishes and support throught the social media. We thank them. Personally I want to dedicate this medal to anyone who celebrate today,” Alexandra Tsiavou said adding that she expacially thanks her parents who traveled to London despite the economic problems.

Giazitzidou/Tsiavou give Greece the second Olympics 2012 medal, after Ilias Iliadis won bronze in judo.
