Vice president of conservative New Democracy urged US investors to buy Greece now because it is cheap. In interview to US network CΝBC, Georgiadis said “if you want to buy Greece, buy now because it’s cheap.”
Some wondered whether Georgiadis’ embarassing statement had to do with his rather poor command of the English language and that he actually wanted to say “invest” not “buy”.
But Georgiadis said the same again and again also in in an interview to Sky News and during his speech at the London School of Economics in London.
In a speech at the London School of Economics in London Georgiadis repeated the same “buy Greece, buy now, cheap” and in addition he felt the need to explain to international investors that “Greece is the last communist country in Europe.” He told the LSE students that prime minister “Tsipras loves his chair.”
The real message of Georgiadis was, of course, that there are a lot of business opportunities in Greece but not under the SYRIZA-ANEL government. Only when New Democracy will come to power, Greece will be friendly to investment.
Ruling party SYRIZA had no understanding at poor or good English command and the government spokesman commented that Georgiadis is calling investors on aggressive speculation on Greece.
Ο κ. Γεωργιάδης κάλεσε να ασκηθεί επιθετική κερδοσκοπία στην Ελλάδα.
Tzanakopoulos: Mr. Georgiadis calls to exert aggressive speculation against Greece
Beginning of February, the former minister in Samaras government was calling on Greece’s lenders to not come to an agreement on second review so that there would be early elections.
“I don’t want the review to conclude, Tsipras must go,” Georgiadis was telling the media.
Adonis Georgiadis, a seller of books of far-right content, was a member of nationalist party LAOS and he catapulted to New Democracy when it was clear that the party would not enter the Parliament in the 2012 elections.
