Greece is a divided country: sunshine, storms and hail. National Meteorology Service (EMY) has issued a weather warning for Monday, September 11th 2017.
Main characteristics of the weather deterioration are storms, hail and very strong south winds reaching up to 9 Beaufort in the Ionian Sea and the shores of Western Greece.
Areas affected are the islands in the Ionian Sea, Epirus, West and Central Macedonia and West Sterea.
The bad weather front is coming from Italy, where storms over the weekend have cost the lives of at least six people.
The bad weather is expected to affect first the Ionian islands by Monday noon and gradually reach the other regions.
The rest of the country will enjoy sunshine and temperatures reaching 32-35 degrees Celsius. In north-west Peloponnese (Achaia) and Central Crete (Herakleio) temperature is expected to reach 37-40 degrees Celsius.
The weather conditions favor Sahara dust and high humidity, especially in Attica and Athens.
Cloudiness but less rain is expected on Tuesday, Sept 12th. And a slight drop in temperature.
