High school teacher of Attica Prefecture will have a work stoppage from 08:00am to 12:00 noon tomorrow Monday, February 28, 2011. The teachers will hold a protest outside the Ministry of Education. at 09:00am. Teachers oppose the mergers of schools that will end up in overcrowded school classes, low quality education and pupils having to travel more than an hour to reach a school.
When I was at high school we used to be 50 pupils in the class room. Every pupil had the chance to get an oral test only once per semester. If you had a bad day, you had no other chance to improve your grades. You had to wait for the end of semester for the written test.
I can recall a semester back then, when I got a 10 (very bad) in Algebra in the oral test but 19 (Best 20) in the written test. Even my teacher could not believe it… he tought I had cheated, but that wasn’t the case. I just had one bad and one good day in an interval of 5 months.
