  1. Free? I take it that guards and other staff are on double overtime? And the bands? They might play for free…

Sorry, to be such a grouch. I know that it is really a great thing to go at night at a museum. It gives a whole new atmosphere. Years ago, in Barcelona, we were pleasantly surprised at the evening opening hours of the museums there. That was great. Not free though.

Might be a good idea for here too. Museums open until 10 at night. But then there has to be drastic changes in the labour arrangements. And I would settle for having them open during the hours they are supposed to be open now. How many rooms were recently closed off for the public on Sunday in the National Archaeological Museum? I think they had just 10 or so open…

Plan of action? Open up every coffee corner or café that is closed now, rent it out and earn money with it. Do the same with all the museum shops. They are in most countries big money spinners. Then make absolutely sure there is enough staff for the opening hours. Staff doesn’t have to be trained to do surveillance work like this. In some countries they use conscientious objectors to do these jobs. I have friends who spend their ‘time’ doing that. But also students and why not surplus staff in other departments? Or unemployed. It is a good way to earn some extra cash in these hard times.
It is not rocket science and it has been done all over the world. So let’s do it now!

    • It’s I-free-myself-from-misery day!

      • Oeps… Sorry about that. Just remove the post… Here is an alternative text:
Enjoy!!!!!!! Great opportunity to marvel at the treasures there. Also to see the past, present and future, together with a lot of fellow Greeks and foreigners. Thinking about what we all had and have in common.
Weather will be great. And nothing better than Friday evening stroll around the Acropolis. No moon, so great for watching the stars! Let’s make it a ‘smile-on-the-face-day’ today!
