Greek June Elections: Conservative ND Leads With 23.4% in Latest Public Opinion Poll

Conservative Nea Dimocratia leads in the latest public opinion poll conducted by GPO for Mega TV.

When asked what party they will vote for at June 17 elections, respondents answered:

ND 23.4% – SYRIZA 22.1% – PASOK 13.5% – INDEPENDENT GREEKS 7.4% – KKE 5.9% – DEMOCRATIC LEFT 5.1% -CHRYSI AVGI 4.2%

55.5% believe ND will win the elections, while 33.6% believe SYRIZA will.

22.7% considers Samaras (ND) as the most appropriate for PM, 19.1% Tsipras (SYRIZA), 19.1% Venizelos (PASOK), 8.1% Kouvelis (DEMLEFT)

To the question which party do you consider as ready to govern, respondents said:

ND 33.1% – SYRIZA 16.1% – PASOK 10.2%

66.4% want a coalition government

77.8% want modification fo the loan agreement (MoU; bailout austerity programme)

 20.4% want the MoU to be cancelled

Concerning Greece to remain in the euro zone and the question “Do you believe Greece must stay in the euro at any cost?”

80.9% answered YES

18.0% answered NO 

Publishing public opinion polls will be banned two weeks before the elections, that is Sunday June 3, 2012.

Side note: ND is still far from reaching absolute majority. It looks that a coalition government will have to emerge after June 17 elections.
