A strong explosion occurred at 4 o’ clock on Tuesday morning in the entrance of the building where extreme right-wing Golden Dawn (Chrysi Avgi) has branch offices, at the 17th kilometer of Athens-Corinth highway in Aspropyrgos, 20 km east of Athens.
The explosion was caused by an improvised explosive device, placed at the entrance of the two-storey building by unknown perpetrators. According to Greek media, the device contained 2-3 km of dynamite and two cartridge casings.
The detonation broke the GD office door on the first floor and caused damage to a shop on the ground floor. Other other damages were caused in shops and one house opposite the target.
Anti-terror units and police teams investigate the issue.
For some ‘unknown reason’, Greek police allowed a GD-MP to wear a special uniform and walk around the crime scene as if he was a forensics investigator.
In a statement Golden Dawn said that the explosion created a crater of one meter diameter, while the explosion reminds of another attack at the party’s office [in Athens, I suppose].
