Greek police published new pictures of the armed robbers of Velvento banks heist apparently to show that they were beaten during their arrests and not later during transport or interrogation.
The pictures uploaded on Greek police website Friday afternoon, have also the digital data of the exact time when the pictures were taken and altered.
Friday morning Greek police held a press conference and dismissed claims that the four arrested young men were tortured after their arrest. A video was supporting authorities’ position that they were injured during a scuffle when police tried to free the hostage. Apparently the press conference could not convince all political parties and media, therefore the publishing of the pictures before the photoshop.
Therefore, Minister of Public Order and Citizen Protection, Nikos Dendias, was absolute right to say the photoshop was necessary otherwise the public could not recognize the robbers suspected of terrorism.
Not to mention the shock that these pictures would have caused to the public…
