Greece’s Council of Systemic Stability is holding an extraordinary meeting Thursday evening to deal with the Cyprus issue. Finance Minister Yiannis Stournaras, Bank of Greece governor, George Provopoulos, the chairman of capital market, Costas Botopoulos, and representatives from the Greek Financial Stability Fund (HFSF) participate in the meeting.
While some Greek media report the meeting takes place in order to determine the attitude of Greece ahead the extraordinary and critical teleconference of the Eurogroup meeting at 8 p.m. Thursday on Cyprus. Athens News Agency reports that the meeting aims to discuss the apparent intention of the Cypriot government to ‘reconstruct’ the Cyprus Popular Bank.
PS I didn’t know we had a Council of Systemic Stability…. why didn’t it held meetings, when Greece was going down?
