ERT protests, Jun 13/2013

Thousands protesters are currently outside the headquarters of Greek public broadcaster ERT, that was suddenly shut down on June 11/2013 – with an order of prime minister Antonis Samaras.  Journalists and technicians who were dismissed and lost their jobs  overnight have occupied the ERT HQ and broadcast live on 24-hour basis. Transmission is possible with the help of European Broadcast Union (EBU).

“ERT staff are continuing to broadcast from their studios and broadcasting via streaming which can be monitored on the homepage of the EBU website.

The EBU has been accessing the stream and retransmitting it via satellite to give Europe’s public service media access to ERT’s news content.” (EBU website)

Outside ERT

All five ERT TV channels and all national and regional ERT radios were silenced at 11:15 p.m. on June 11th 2013.
Together with ERT, Greeks were deprived also from watching Greek Parliament TV Channel, and the BBD World, Deutsche Welle TV, French TV5. They were blackened too because their transmission was via ERT.
