Rhodes: Police officer trains Golden Dawn cadres (pictures)

A trainer with special skills in using and handling with bats, in methods of self-defense. Nothing wrong with it if the trainer was not a police officer and his students were members of extreme-right Golden Dawn, a parliament party known among others for organizing operations in form of a paramilitary formation.

The training material was reportedly uploaded by the local Golden Dawn branch, copied by a local media website and reproduced by daily To Ethnos.

According to Ethnos, the police officer was appointed at the airport of Rhodes. Although his face was not clearly to be seen in the pictures, his colleagues allegedly recognized him. The officer submitted his resignation “for personal reasons”, resignation which was not accepted by the Greek Police leadership that ordered an internal investigation.

The police officer was suspended from duty.

According to latest reports by Greek media, the police officer has been detained. However not for his activities with Golden Dawn but for debts to the state!

According to NewsIt ,there was a court decision against him for owing employers’ contributions to social security funds. (which means that he runs his own business as employer although a public servant).

After the murder of leftist rapper Pavlos Fyssas by a GD member on September 17th, the political leadership appears determined to ‘clear’ the Greek Police and the Greek Armed Forces from GD infiltration and this while there had been reports in the past of cooperation between the party and the uniformed men.

Fyssas’ murderer Giorgos Roupakiotis had allegedly testified to police that before the stabbing of Fyssas he had received a phone call by an army officer. However it is not clear, whether the officer was active or retired.
