An old building on the Sotiria-compound was to be given to an EU funded project. The unionist allegedly asked the money so that personnel would refrain from strike to protest concede of the building.

The commander has informed the authorities, the unionist was caught red-handed and detained.

“Once he realized the presence of police and his impending arrest, hr attacked the police and tried to escape , but without success. The said amount was found in his possession.

During house-search, police found and seized: a WALTRO pistol with magazine , two folding knives and a pair of handcuffs , iron collapsible batons , rifle hunting , a BERETTA rifle and a tape recorder.

Against him a file for extortion, illegal weapons possession and resistance has been formed.” (NewsIt).

In an extraordinary press conference on Monday afternoon, Health Minister Adonis Georgiardis spoke of an “incredible event” and a “special case of corruption and blackmail.”

” It is good to be suspicious of those who shout a lot and claim public interest ,” Georgiadis said adding “at least in this case we have a proven case where the aim was the own benefit .”

The name of the unionist, his profession and any possible affiliation to any political party were not published.

PS I don’t know, if the unionists asked the money for himself or the union, but certainly the kingdom of Denmark of the South is still full rotten…
