Athens: court secretary stabbed by drugs convict

Mysteries happen and everyone wonders “how was it possible?” An assailant stabbed the secretary of an investigation magistrate in Athens main court and the victim was transferred to the hospital with serious injuries on the back and the belly.

An unidentified assailant stabbed the secretary of an investigating magistrate at the capital’s main court complex on Friday, according to sources who said the 36-year-old woman was transferred to the hospital with serious injuries.

Police detained the assailant who is an Iraqi national, Skai television reported without providing details of the circumstances or motive for the attack.

It remained unclear how the assailant managed to pass a knife through the normally tight security at the entrance to the Evelpidon court complex. (ekathimerini)

Greek media report that the police detained the attacker who is being interrogated in police headquarters. The man is alleged to be an Iranian, convicted on illegal drugs charges. The motive for the attack is not known so far.
