Greek coalition government expels one MP due to “unified property tax” voting

PM Samaras’ party Nea Dimokratia needed some forty minutes to expel Vyron Polidoras from the party after the former minister voted No to “unified property tax” bill.

Samaras’ coalition government has now only 153 seats in the parliament of 300, with majority needed to pass laws being 151.

Nea Dimokratia: 126

PASOK: 27

With main opposition party, left-wing SYRIZA on the rise -according to latest public opinion polls -, it is clear that strict austerity policies loading more and more financial burdens on the shoulders of crisis-hit households cannot give a chance to a pro-loan agreement government to survive.
