Chanting slogans against migrants, a group of 30 Golden Dawn members gathered outside the polyclinic of humanitarian organization Medecins du Monde in Perama on Thursday. At that point some 40 Greek and foreign patients, among them many children were inside the polyclinic.
Dressed in the known GD uniforms, the troublemakers were changing “Blood, honor, Golden Dawn” and “Foreigners get out”.
Speaking to Vima FM, an MdM representative said that the children were scared and that volunteers and social workers closed the doors and called the police. The right-extremists left a couple of minutes later.
“They will not scare us, medicine does not discriminate,” ΜdM secretary Nikitas Kanakis told Vima FM noting that 90% of the patients the Parama branch treats were Greeks.
Located in the outskirts of Piraeus, Perama is one of the downgraded suburbs of Western Attica with many jobless and consequently uninsured residents.
It is the third time that Perama branch of Medecins du Monde gets intimidated by Golden Dawn. According to news website in.gr, Perama GD branch leader had threatened to “get rid of PAME”, the union of Greek communist party KKE.
