Loans agreements, harsh austerity measures, income and pension cuts and elimination of labor rights sent Greeks 20,120 times to the streets since 2010, when the country sought the “rescue” through the International Monetary Fund.
According to the data given to the Greek Palriament by Minister of Citizen Protection and Public Order, Nikos Dendias, a total of 20,120 protests and marches were held across the country. The date refer to 1,420 days of loan agreements.
6,266 demonstrations were held only in the prefecture of Attika and Greek capital Athens, with an average of 4.5 protests per day.
