This happened short before the old Finance minister Yiannis Stournaras handed over the Ministry files to the new fiance minister Gikas Hardouvelis. The protesting cleaners attempted to block the entrance of the building and it came as it was expected:
The riot police pushed the cleaners away.
The cleaners pushed back.
In the scuffle, a cleaner found herself on the ground, slightly injured.
The woman was taken to a nearby hospital with the ambulance.
I cannot tell you whether the riot police was following orders of the old Public Order Minister Nikos Dendias who is now Development Minister or order of the new minister Vasilis Kikilias a former basketball player and dental surgeon by profession.
Fact is the old FinMin Stournaras refused to obey a court order and hire a new the cleaners he had laid-off last year. We don’t know how the new FinMin will deal with the issue.
Old FinMin and new FinMin
Fact is also that the Greek Supreme Court is to give its decision on the matter on upcoming Thursday.
PS I suppose that only the persons were changed in the old/new government but that the policies remain the same. What was today’s Samaras’ slogan? “Close to the citizen”….
In the words of Led zeppelin ” Meet the New Boss same as the Old Boss”. I guess they knew then exactly what politics was all about !
