Some people cannot wait for the seashore legislation to pass at the Parliament and deliberately moved to call beaches their own. An owner of a land plot in Chalkidiki claimed a part of the beach Kanapitsa in Paliouri village at Kassandra peninsula.
He planted cactus and prickly pears on the sand, installed an automatic watering system and also put a big sign prohibiting access to the beach to swimmers.
The sign is written in Greek, English and Russian!
According to seleo.gr that brought up the story, the coast guard is expected to investigate the issue and forward it to the relevant real estate institutions that will decide whether there would be penalties.
According to the owner’s logic, anyone with a land plot neighboring the coast line can claim the beach with some cactus. lol
