Do you know that there are people who receive retirement money from up to 10 different pension funds? According to data reported by the Greek Minister of Labor, Social Security and Welfare, Yiannis Vroutsis, there are a total of 174 retirees managing to collect more than 4,000 euro per month from several pension funds.
8 retirees receive 9 different pensions
3 retirees receive 10 different pensions
52retirees receive 8-10 different pensions
30 retirees receive different pensions with the total amount exceeding 5,000 euro per month
3 retirees receive different pensions with the total amount exceeding 6,000 euro per month
1 retiree receives different pensions with the total amount exceeding 7,000 euro per month
The highest recorded pension from a single state pension fund amounts 5,460.73 euro.
The data on multiple pensions was requested by Nea Dimokratia MP Kyriakos Virvidakis to mark the publication of the 12th Report Information System ‘Helios’ on pensions and welfare benefits.
How does it come that some pensioners receive so many different pensions? Well, one might have had a profession in the private sector, then served as state officer or elected MP or Prime Minister or President, was registered in sector’s fund, was eligible to receive supplementary pension and what-ever benefits.
It is useless to ask “why”. We are in Greece…. We are in the country with some blessed ones…
