Two students were injured Thursday morning when riot police forces moved to hinder protesting students from entering the Law University in downtown Athens. According to media and websites, police used teargas and violence. One student was injured in the head, the other has injuries in the head, the face and the hands. Both injured students have been reportedly taken to the hospital.
Riot police forces took position outside the Law School already early in the morning following a decision by the University dean. Students wanted allegedly to occupy the university on the occasion of the 41st anniversary of the Students’ Revolt in 1973.
The student told reporters that he was originally attacked from the back by 4-5 policemen.
After the clashes in the morning, the atmosphere remains calm outside the Law School, but some media report that 200 students are inside the building chanting slogans against the police and the dean.
