Friendly and warm atmosphere. Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras is holding a meeting with President of European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker in Brussels on Wednesday morning.
In a gesture of failed symbolism, veteran Jean-Claude took young PM Alexis by the hand and off they walked to the EC sanctuary.
Hand in Hand they walk for Greek Debts on Solution Street.
However in their first picture for photographers, Juncker looked kind of tense and …lost.
While Tsipras meets Juncker in Brussels, Finance Minister holds a meeting with European Central Bank head Mario Draghi in Frankfurt.
Both meetings are considered crucial for the Greek positions on debt swap.
UPDATE: Juncker-Tsipras meeting concluded after 30-45 minutes without joint statements. “Talks are at a very early stage for joint statements,” Skai TV correspondent in Brussles reported adding that they talked about the Greek debt but not in details and that Juncker would expect the official government program first.
Juncker and Tsipras reportedly talked also about the replacement of EU Commissioner Dimitris Avramopoulos who is to be proposed by SYRIZA for the office of the President of the Greek Republic.
Alexis Tsipras is to meet with European Parliament President. Martin Schulz tweeted that a joint statement is due at 12:30 noon, Brussels time.
PS I am not sure whether Tsirpas will make a reference to Juncker about Luxembourg being a tax paradise.
