German CDU MPs want to control Greek taxpayers data? Einstein was right!

Do you know how the Germans want to combat Greek tax evasion? Two MPs from the Christian-Democrat Party of Chancellor Angela Merkel have a brilliant idea: they propose that German tourists visiting Greece should receive a tax refund of up to €500, if they collect and submit their Greek receipts to the German tax office.

German tourists should pay per credit or debit card, no cash.

The tax number of the Greek receipt issuer should be clearly identified on the receipt, so that to ensure that the money is actually taxed in Greece.

“We set a clear incentive for tax compliance,” one of the smart guys, Rudiger Kruse said, adding that the so-called “Greek-Voucher” would be a great impetus to change the system from below.

His colleague, Axel Fischer, stressed that also Germans would “profit from the program.”

The plan of “subsidized vacation in Greece” should be valid for three years.

Kruse and Fischer did not elaborate on how exactly they will control if the money has been indeed ‘taxed’. Neither, did they mention that the tax-refund will have burden the German taxpayer.

PS  A quote by Albert Einstein: “Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I’m not sure about the universe.” The Grand Master forgot “populism’ though.

Well, they may have borrowed the idea from Finances in Portugal: over here, amidst all receipts with one’s tax number they extract one — on television — and the prize is a… german car, na Audi. Every week!!

  2. It’s abundantly clear as time goes by that the real problem of Europe is that it has Germany in it.

    Stratfor clearly thinks so:
