Greece: WWII reparations from Germany at €278.7 billion

In case our German friends have been wondering how much money the Greeks want for World War II atrocities and damages committed by the Nazis  and the “loan” Greeks were enforced to hand out to the Nazis in order to finance the occupation of their country and the war against their country, here is the result of Greek calculations:

A total of 278.7 billion euro.

Deputy Finance Minister Dimitris Mardas told the the Parliamentary Committee for the audit of the debt that:

10.3 billion euro should be paid for the “enforced loan”, while the rest 260.3 billion euro is compensation for the victims of the Nazi terror and damages to the country’s infrastructure.

Dimitris Mardas added that “the Paris Treaty of 1946 had estimated the WWII reparations at 341.2 billion dollar”, at that time.

  2. But we refuse to believe that the bank of justice is bankrupt. We refuse to believe that there are insufficient funds in the great vaults of opportunity of this nation. And so, we’ve come to cash this check, a check that will give us upon demand the riches of freedom and the security of justice.
