Politically interesting! Public sector union ADEDY calls Greek government not to pay the IMF

Interesting! Greece public sector union umbrella ADEDY is joining a protest rally calling for debt write-down and the Greek government not to pay back loans to the  International Monetary Fund.

Together with a civic group called “Initiative for Debt Write-Off”, ADEDY will demonstrate tomorrow Thursday, April 9th, the day Greece will pay the tranche of €448 million euro to the IMF.

“Not a euro to serve the debt,” ADEDY writes in a statement.

Politically it is very interesting and weird at the same time that the public sector union umbrella organizes itself and supports a payment-stop and takes a risk of a “credit event” and thus against the line of the Greek government. And moreover on Thursday before Easter, where normally civil servants have long moved to their villages outside the Greek capital.

ADEDY used to be in the hands of PASOK in the past, I wonder whether it is in the hands of SYRIZA radicals now…

The rally is scheduled for 6:30 pm in Chafteia area, near Omonoia Square.
