The crowd was very much surprised to see a motorcycled policeman with a recording camera on his helmet. Together with his colleague, the policeman from the DELTA unit was among protesters outside the Athens University on Thursday.
What’s the problem? The problem is that there is a special committee still considering the possibility of putting cameras on police helmets for a live stream to operational center. However, the committee has not decided yet on the measure and there is no relevant legislation allowing such action, especially due to “private data protection”.

While many protesters thought the camera was there in the context of a “pilot program” it turns out that the policeman had placed the camera on his own initiative.
Photo agency Eurokinissi captured the law violating act on a video.

An internal investigation against the policeman has been ordered.
Media reports do not clarify whether the camera was on. (other sources: in.gr, ethnos.gr, tvxs.gr etc)
PS maybe he was doing a harmless camera test drive to check for how long the camera could stick on the helmet and would not fall down at sharp street corners….
