Golden Dawn leader accepts “political responsibility” for Fyssas’ murder

One day before the second anniversary of the murder of rapper Pavlos Fyssas, Golden Dawn leader Nikos Michaloliakos accepted the political responsibility for the murder.

How will this statement affect voters? Will they still raise GD on the 3. position?

We will see tonight, after 9 o’ clock…

Golden Dawn chief Nikos Michaloliakos on Thursday said the neo-Nazi party accepted political responsibility for the murder of rapper Pavlos Fyssas by one of its supporters in September 2013.

“As far as the political responsibility is concerned, we accept it, but there is no criminal responsibility,” said Michaloliakos in an interview with Real FM’s Nikos Chatzinikolaou on Thursday.

“How is it that an entire party is being accused because one of its supporters committed a condemnable act?” he added.

The fatal stabbing of Fyssas by Golden Dawn member Giorgos Roupakias in the Piraeus suburb of Keratsini triggered a large-scale probe into the alleged criminal activities of the far right party. The investigation led to a total of 78 suspects, including Michaloliakos and his party deputy Christos Pappas, facing criminal charges.

Their trial began earlier this year but has been adjourned. It is is expected to resume on September 29.(ekathimerini)

Fact is that after Fyssas’ murder, GD plunged in public opinion polls from around 13% with rising tendency in 2014, down to around 6%.
