Greek public and private sector unions will launch a 24-hour general strike, on Thursday, December 3rd 2015. The strike will paralyze Greece as workers at public transport means will join the protest. The strike aims to demonstrate workers’ discomfort with the budget 2016 and the pensions reforms.
Ferries & Boats will remain docked from 00:01 Thursday until 23:59 on the same day.
Trains and Proastiakos will not operate, and transport from/to Athens airport will only be possible with the special buses, thus from 9am to 9 pm.
Blue Buses, Tram, Trolley buses, Metro and Urban train ISAP will operate only from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm.
Public hospitals will operate with emergency staff on Dec 2nd and Dec 3rd.
Media will be on strike a day earlier, that is on Dec 2nd.
Strikers will gather at 11:00 am at Klafthmonos square.
I read that some public services and some municipality departments will operate but in order to avoid trouble, you’d better do your business with the state a day earlier or a day later.
PS a friend was asking “what’s the point of the strike as the government will pass all these bills demanded by the creditors.” I had no answer.
Ironically striking saves the govt money as they do not get paid for the day! So strike more often please!
Or am I mistaken? Someone from the public sector please answer my question.
