5 members of foreign NGO’s face legal charges for facilitating illegal entrance of refugees to Greece

Five members of foreign non-governmental organizations were taken to the prosecutor on Thursday morning facing charges of having facilitated the illegal entrance of refugees and migrants to Greece.

The 2 Danes and 3 Spaniards were arrested this morning by members of the Greek Coast Guard because they towed a boat with refugees from the Turkish territorial waters to the Greek island of Lesvos.

  1. Wonderful. Now Greece adopts the stance of Australia or some other such fascist shitty place. As a point of law, it is not a crime for a person to cross the border in order to claim asylum. Therefore, it cannot be a crime to assist such people to cross the border. The problem is that (a) the Greek judges don’t know or care about law; and (b) if the migrants are intending to claim asylum. In the case of the latter, it is far from clear to me what the law says in the case of crossing the Greek border to apply for asylum in Germany.

Of course, the whole situation is a terrible mess — caused by the EU countries. Perhaps it’s a good thing that some other EU nationals are caught up in the mess, and not Greeks…

With the kind little difference that Australia is a by Europeans illegally occupied continent and Greece not and that is also racist enough to let more European settlers in, without any allowance by the real Australians.
