Greece’s unemployment at 24%, highest in EU, still 1.150m Greeks without a job

Unemployment in Greece fell but it is still high, the highest within the European Union. Fro December 2015, Unemployment was not anymore 25% as in the last three years but at 24%. So, it is not 1:4 Greeks are unemployed but just 1:3.99999999…. Greeks.

By the way, I do not consider the data as correct since part-time “contracts” without social insurance are very high in the Greek labor market in the last two years. people work “black”, they earn black and may still been considered as unemployed.

Greece had the highest rate of unemployment in the European Union with 24 percent in December 2015, according to data released on Monday by the bloc’s statistical authority Eurostat.

The figure was still down from 24.4 percent in November last year, the data showed.

Eurostat’s figures show that 1.150.000 men and women in Greece were unemployed in December, compared to 1.169.000 the previous month.

According to the same data, unemployment across the 19-country eurozone in February dropped slightly from January’s 10.4 percent to 10.3 percent. Across the broader 28-country EU, the figure was 8.9 percent, unchanged from the month before.

PS job vacancies will open for unemployed Greeks to work in Refugees’ Hot Spots. Instead of Investors, the refugees came… *sigh*
