The body of the 14-year-old boy who had been missing since Saturday night was found just two kilometers away from home in the Gefyra area near Thessaloniki. The boy was stabbed to death. The body has at least two stabs in the neck, one at the carotid, caused by a sharp item, most probably by a knife. The boy’s mobile phone and his wallet found next to the body.
According to preliminary media information, the boy was out on Saturday evening with friends and they were hanging out at a cafeteria of the area. They left the cafeteria around midnight and the boy walked home, some 500 meters away. He never arrived.
The parents informed the police about the missing boy early Sunday morning. The body was found short after 11 o’ clock outside the door of a closed gym of the village.
Media initially reported that the body was found by a farmer in an agricultural field, later it became rather clear that it was found near the gym door laying on green grass.
Police is conducting investigation and according to some media the coroner found genetic material in the boy’s nails. It seems that the boy fought for his life.

The boy’s friends have already given first testimonies.
According to latest information by state ERT, the boy was at a music concert with his parents and a friend. when the show was over the parents left for home. The boy stayed a little longer with the friend and the two separated 200 meters from the boy’s home.
UPDATE I: the body was found by his friend’s father, in the land plot close to the gym and his friends’ home.
Alpha TV reports that the boy was killed with a kitchen knife.
UPDATE II
Late on Sunday evening, Greek police solved the case: the friend of the killed boy was the perpetrator. He is also 14 years old.
The killer’s “inexperience”, the knife found near the body, footage from a security camera and gap in the friend’s testimony led police in solving the crime.
The perpetrator has reportedly confessed.
There has been no official announcement so far, the motive remains unknown.
Media speak of a crime “for insignificant reason”.
The crime shocks Greece’s society as such crimes are really a rare phenomenon in the country.
